How to Care for Your Gadgets in Extreme Cold

Extreme cold, like extreme heat, is not a friend of electronics. Unless all of your devices were made to conform to the rugged specifications and conditions of the elements, you could experience problems especially when you have to leave your phone and other electronic devices in the car for a long period of time. Extreme cold can ruin everything from your batteries, to moving components. It can also damage the plastic or metal cases of your gadgets. In cases like this, you will have to enforce some additional precautions when taking care of your gadgets in the cold or winter season.

You must remember not to leave your gadgets for long periods of time in exposed areas. Likewise, do not keep gifts of electronic devices like laptops, digital cameras, MP3 players, game consoles, mobile phones, and others hidden or stashed away in car trunks. However, if by any chance your electronic devices are exposed to extreme temperatures, allow them some time to warm back up to room temperature before starting to use them. Also be careful of touching your gadgets in extremely cold weather, as the cold can trigger a static electricity shock. If you have to carry your gadgets around, but you do not want to be given an unpleasant shock, you can choose to encase your gadgets in woollen felt cases since wool is a good insulator. This means that it does not conduct electricity of any kind.
